The Tango

Calling all Entrepreneurs !!

To all of my supporters since Mental Aromas birthed in 2021 thank you so much! Thank you for being here and thank you for staying on the dance floor with us.

So much has happened since we became a legal business. Mental Aromas was birthed during COVID-19; my passion for creating an aromatherapy candle line came from not only having extra time on my hands to create but also knowing that my product was made with love and care. We pride ourselves on using only natural ingredients and clean scents.

The year Mental Aromas was birthed was also the year I graduated from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in the Spring with my B.S. in Psychology. Six months later I began my Master/Specialist Program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Fall 2021) at Florida State University and two years later in May 2023 I graduated (M.S. Ed.S).

The academic journey has added another level to owning a business that has increased my stress level and lowered my motivation for many days, weeks, and months. I have fought through the slow seasons time and time again and extended myself grace for the times I wish my business was climbing the charts, however, I knew I wasn’t able to pour into my business as much at the time.

Currently, I am a registered mental health intern in the state of FL and also a mental health technician at a local psychiatric hospital. I am still a busy bee but as a mental health therapist and advocate I know that Mental Aromas aromatherapy products help many people relax and practice self care.

My message today is for all the entrepreneurs who wear many hats and tangos with their business. The tango isn’t always fast, most times it’s slow, but it never stops flowing. Your business can still be successful even when it’s not the only focus you have.

Here’s a few tips (even I plan to use to quicken my tango)

  1. Consistent post (only during the most active engagement hours)

  2. At least one event a month (harder for weekend shift workers, so find a compromise like a new connection each month)

  3. Only tell your customers what you know you can do so they can trust and depend on your business.

Best Wishes

CEO Maya
